I feel I can say with confidence RW is potty trained! I am so proud of my big boy!
The adventure started wednesday of this last week when I downloaded a potty time app that I saw in an email I got. Rw loved the little story that came with it about Hopkins using the potty and wearing underpants. I told Rw that he had underpants and showed them to him. I also told him if he stayed dry all night he could wear them the next day and we would start potty training.
Well he stayed dry. So the next day we put on underpants set a timer every 20 min and ran to the potty saying POTTY TIME!
He loved it. Day one we had 3 accidents and he stayed dry that night then the next day still only 3 accidents. Now I can't remember what day it was, I think sat I ended up needing to take his underpants away. I have heard from people that letting them run around naked peeing on themselves helped them know when they needed to pee. As far as I can tell they were right one day without underpants and was holding his pee and letting me know we needed to get to the potty.
Sunday morning he was telling me when he needed to pee and poop, and I was all ready to take him to church and see how he did.
It was a disaster and looking back I shouldn't have tried. He had woken up at 5 that morning, and church starts at 11. He fell asleep for the 5 min car ride and was a bear during sacrament he was nervous about the church toilets and wet through 2 pairs of pants before we called it quits and went home. It was an epic fail and I should have seen it coming. We got home he napped was a little grumpy waking up but had no accidents the rest of the day.
He has stated dry 5 nights in a row and will tell me when he needs to pee and poop. I figure we will still have occasional accidents, it still early on In the process, and that trips out of the house will take some figuring out.
I was really scared potty training would take forever and be horrible, while it was stressful at times it overall was quite pleasant.
