update

So we did cloth diapers right, and we spent less than $100 on the whole thing, and bought everything brand new. I am very proud of that fact if you couldn't tell. I always see all this stuff and it is supposed to cost like almost 200, and i think wow thats alot of money, but i beat the system. We went with Flip Daipers, which are just a waterproof cover with snaps, and its a one size fits all deal. You are "supposed" to buy the inserts they make specially for the cover, but we thought well lets just try using prefold instead, they are way cheaper than spending 4 dollars just for one insert. So we got our covers and we got some prefolds, and we folded them to fit in the diaper, and it all works just dandy. Other than the whole not having to pay for them every month thing they are no different than the disposable. They actually leak less, seem way more comfy, and i don't have to run a bag of stinky diapers to the garbage can.

In other news, Rich started school, and is enjoying most of his classes so far, we will see how it goes through the rest of the semester. He is enjoying his 3 mile bike ride to school and the 3 miles back. It takes him about 10 min both ways, and he enjoys the scenery. We have a green belt that runs from where we live to campus, it's super convenient. He is still at the same job, and we are still looking to change that, but so far no luck.

I have been cleaning and cooking and sewing for the past little bit, and for the most part i am enjoying it. I don't have much going on outside the house so i have to really try and find reasons to get out into the real world. So far my only exscuses are to return library books, and go to the park. I have been working on making some little stuffed animals for Richard William's birthday and christmas, it's a little early, but i am getting the patterns from library books, so it's easier just to do it while i have the book in front of me. I am also working on making a smock apron, i didn't really have a pattern to work with and i was a little worried it was going to be another major fail, but so far it is truning out great.

Oh and some awesome news is that i am getting the best christmas present ever! I get to go home for christmas, and the great thing is i get to see my parents and my inlaws all in one trip becaue they live like an hour and thirty minutes away from eachother. I'm super excited. too bad i don't have crazy super powers so that i can speed up time. anyway that is all of my ramblings for now. Life is great! I hope you feel the same.

  1. I just saw your blog and thought I would say we use cloth diapers too. With the flip cover and prefolds even. I love not having to spend $40-50 a month on diapers, what with two babies in them.
