Rw's 4th Birthday

Richard turned 4! He is totally obsessed with transformers right now so I of course did what I could to make that the theme. I am a creative person, but I just don't get the point in stressing myself out to make EVERY single thing go with the theme.... 4 year old kids won't/don't care.

I also gave Rw the choice between cupcakes and cookies and thankfully he chose cookies. After the fact I realized how brilliant this idea is. Anytime I go to a birthday party I see adorable cupcakes, and most of the time I also see kids who lick the fluffy frosting off the top and then you are left throwing out the cake part. So from now on I think I will stick to themed sugar cookies. I was able to find Autobot and Decepticon themed cookie cutters and frosted them blue and purple with sugar sprinkles. They were a hit, and so much easier than cupcakes.

The only other thing I did to make this shindig a success was to blow up some red and blue balloons and make a banner to hang out front and for the kids to play with. They spent most of the time chasing balloons and playing in the playroom, no structured games necessary! It was great and relatively stress free.

Then "Santa" showed up. Rw knew it was Grandpa but some of the other kids were pretty well convinced. What a goof of a guy.

  1. I like the cookie idea, instead of cupcakes. Cause for Chloe's party no one hardly ate the cupcakes I had made but they most likely would have eaten the cookies!! :-) Looks like he had a fun party, Happy Birthday RW.
